Peoples is celebrating the holiday season by giving back to our communities with the 12 Days of Christmas from Peoples! Watch our list grow throughout the holiday season as we share stories of our employees performing random acts of kindness in their communities. It’s 12 days of giving, dozens of photos and hundreds of smiles. Enjoy the spirit of the season with us.
The first day of Christmas in Peoples State Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas event began with Darryl Saeteurn’s idea of treating a large group of Big Brothers & Big Sisters and the Wausau Boys & Girls Club to a holiday showing of The Polar Express. Darryl worked with Marcus Theaters to rent out a 66-seat auditorium and providing entry to both the children and their Bigs…plus popcorn and soda! Darryl took a photo as the children and their bigs were still entering the theater during the previews…so he wouldn’t disturb them with a flash photo later on. A great holiday movie to set the stage for a great holiday season…and a wonderful holiday tradition with Peoples’ 12 Days of Christmas for 2019!
Jordan Goberville in our Rhinelander location continues our efforts to impact the communities we serve as part of our Peoples State Bank 12 Days of Christmas. Jordan used funds to purchase cold weather clothing like mittens, coats, scarfs, and more to provide to children at the Early Childhood Academy in Rhinelander. Children were selected by the Academy from low-income families that had needs for clothing. Thanks for sharing in the season of giving, Jordan! The Foster Care Closet run by Marathon County Social Services will receive a little piece of holiday cheer from Peoples State Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas. Sara Klieforth used her funds to purchase diapers and wipes for the infants and toddlers placed in foster care. Right now, in Marathon County alone, there are 60 licensed foster homes and nearly 200 children in out-of-home care. Watch for more random acts of kindness by Peoples staff throughout the holiday season!
They keep us safe all year long, and now Kaci Sessions and her Marathon staff are providing a bit of holiday cheer to the volunteer firefighters of Marathon. As her 12 Days of Christmas project, Kaci purchased treats and goodies to fill Christmas “stockings” for each of the Marathon Volunteer Fire Department staff members! We’ll have another random act of kindness from a Peoples staff member soon.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River has a backpack program to help children who need a bit of extra food on the weekends. Children in the Eagle River, Land O’Lakes and St. Germain schools are the benefactors. This year, Amy Young and the staff at our Eagle River location purchased many items to help fill those backpacks! What a great way to celebrate the 5th day of Christmas in Peoples State Bank’s annual holiday tradition! Watch for more random acts of kindness by Peoples staff throughout the holiday season!
Chee Thao spearheaded the staff at our 6th Street location for the Peoples 12 Days of Christmas event. Chee organized a purchase of Christmas-related books for the children in a classroom and read the story to the kids. Then, each child received their own wrapped book for the holiday. We’re just halfway through Peoples State Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas celebration. Watch for more stories of generosity in the coming days!
Rise Up Central Wisconsin, Inc. is a non-profit consisting of artists, service providers, program participants and others working together on public art projects. Sao Lao of our Wausau Stewart Avenue location chose Rise Up as her 7th day of Christmas project. Sao purchased art supplies for the group. As Sao says, “to see how a community can come together and create beauty and deliver a strong message through art is truly moving.” We hope our 12 Days of Christmas celebration helps you see how easy it can be to “pay it forward!” We’ll have another 12 Days of Christmas update very soon!
The 8th day of Christmas took a trip to Wisconsin’s Northwoods, with Cory Erickson spearheading our Minocqua staff for a donation to students at Minocqua J1 and Arbor Vitae Woodruff schools. Cory and his co-workers prepared snack bags of non-perishable food and munchies for children to eat during their week off school for the holiday. Look for more random acts of kindness by Peoples State Bank staff throughout the holidays!
On the 9th day of Christmas, Mark Chambers and the Milwaukee loan production office employees made an impression on everyone…with a donation to a truly wonderful Milwaukee-area family…who are down on their luck this year. This family has been hard-hit by cancer and death in the past six months. Mark and his team purchased holiday gifts they wouldn’t have been able to afford on their own. Peoples State Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas continues in the coming days with more stories of generosity!
On the 10th day of Christmas, Lorrie Hanson brought a bit of holiday joy to those who are spending the cold winter nights at the Catholic Charities Warming House in Wausau. Lorrie used her funds to buy cold-weather gear…and helped organize an employee drive to add to the purchase. Peoples employees donated coats, gloves, hats, personal hygiene items, and other supplies for the Warming House. What a great way to share the spirit of Christmas! Peoples State Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas continues for a few more days. Watch for another post soon!
Peoples State Bank employee Lisa Gilles brightened the spirits of the MedEvac Paramedic Team of Wausau with a Christmas stocking full of snacks and other goodies. As Lisa puts it, “they work countless hours saving lives and putting patients before themselves.” The stockings are meant to be a quick way for them to get a bite to eat while on the run, when they don’t have much time to eat. That’s the 11th day of Christmas from Peoples State Bank. One more left, coming up just after New Year’s!
Our annual 12 Days of Christmas event wrapped up with Thomas Fish and the Peoples State Bank credit team making blankets for the families at the Aspirus Hospital’s neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU). Thomas and his co-workers made the blankets, and delivered them to the NICU for the families to share. That’s a wrap on our 12 Days of Christmas for this holiday season. Remember, you can keep the spirit alive by “paying it forward” throughout the holidays and during the remainder of the year.
