FAQs on Banking Services During COVID-19

As the COVID-19 situation has progressed, we made the decision to temporarily close lobbies at all locations to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The health and safety of our customers and employees is very important, and this step will reduce the risk from direct contact. Our drive-ups, ATMs, digital banking tools, and telephone banking remain fully functional. We strongly encourage you to use Peoples’ digital banking tools and other resources for self-service banking and 24/7 account access. We continue to monitor developments related to the spread of COVID-19 and will reevaluate based on guidance from the CDC and local health departments.

With the exception of coming into a bank location, we don’t anticipate any changes to the level of service that you’ve come to expect from Peoples. Our drive-up lanes remain open with staff ready and able to assist you with your transactions. Additionally, we offer several ways to bank with us, including telephone, mobile or digital banking. Our digital banking tools allow you to check balances, pay bills, transfer money, or even deposit a check through our Bank Peoples app 24/7 from the comfort of your home.  To download our mobile app, click here for Apple or Android.  To set up digital banking on your PC, click here.  Telephone banking may be reached at 888.929.9908.

We have a pandemic plan in place to ensure uninterrupted banking operations for all customers. The plan includes remote access capabilities, alternate work locations for employees, and continuity plans for critical operations if needed. Peoples State Bank is an FDIC insured bank. The standard deposit insurance amount is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category. For example, if a person had a CD account in her name alone with a principal balance of $195,000 and $3,000 in accrued interest, the full $198,000 would be insured, since principal plus interest did not exceed the $250,000 insurance limit for single ownership accounts.

Our drive-up lanes remain open during regular business hours. Our staff is ready and able to assist you with your transactions at our drive-up lanes. Most of our locations have ATMs where you can also access your money. Additionally, Peoples State Bank is part of a network of surcharge-free ATMs located across Wisconsin.

Limited lobby services will be provided by appointment Monday through Saturday. Contact your personal banker or call our Customer Service team at 888.929.9902. We will make every effort to provide access to you as quickly as we can, based on the time and day you call to set up an appointment.

You can make a deposit at any bank locations using our drive-up services during normal hours. After normal hours, you can utilize our night deposit box options, or you can deposit checks with our Bank Peoples mobile app. Our business customers can use on-site deposit services and should contact Treasury Management to get setup for that service.

Yes, we are still processing loans including business loans, mortgage loans, refinances and HELOCs. Call your banker or Customer Service at 888.929.9902 to set up an appointment.

Like other businesses, Peoples State Bank is monitoring information from credible sources such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Closing our lobbies will reduce the interaction of customers and employees with the intent of reducing the spread of COVID-19. Our employees are practicing social distancing in our locations, and we have implemented other options including work-from-home for some employees. We have taken other steps such as extensive cleaning of materials that you might come into contact with. We continue to review our internal continuity procedures and remain committed to providing a safe environment for our customers and employees.

We have established best practices for social distancing and will take steps to ensure you have adequate space while you are in our bank location.

Peoples recommends that you visit the CDC website for more information on COVID-19. However, there are a number of everyday preventive actions you can take to reduce your risk and prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases.

  • Wash your hands often – Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer is a good second option.
  • Avoid touching your face – If you have unwashed hands, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth – and do so only after you’ve washed your hands.
  • Avoid those who are sick – If you know someone who has symptoms or is sick, avoid close contact with them if possible.
  • Practice social distancing – Maintain a distance of approximately 6 feet from others when possible—and no hugs or handshakes.
  • Stay home if you’re sick – If you have any symptoms, stay home and follow the CDC and other health guidelines on appropriate measures to get well.
  • Cover your mouth – If you sneeze or cough, take steps to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if possible – if not a tissue then in the crook of your elbow.
  • Clean and disinfect – Whether at work or home, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Be careful of scams. Scammers often take advantage of large-scale situations by attempting to scam people out of money. Look out for suspicious email and text messages, medical supply scams, and fraudulent donation websites that may impersonate a company, charity, or government agency. We posted a blog story to our website on some of the most common methods scammers have attempted to get your money or information. If you’re worried about identity theft, Peoples Edge Plus Checking offers identity theft monitoring, reimbursement, and resolution services—with the $6 monthly service fee waived through June 30, 2020.
