Award winners are selected by a panel of community judges based on business success, mentorship/leadership, and civic/philanthropic activities. Karaba was chosen from nearly 50 outstanding nominations for his career achievements and dedicated community service.
Karaba began his career in banking as a personal banker shortly after college and is now a mortgage loan officer at Peoples State Bank, where he has been for 13 years. He is a member and former president of Kiwanis, president of the Athletic Booster Club, and a commissioner for the Rhinelander Police and Fire Commission. He is also a volunteer basketball coach and has organized and ran the Rhinelander High School Alumni Basketball Tournament for the last 13 years.
“I’m very flattered and honored to receive the award. I’m just trying to do what so many others have done before me. I remember all the times my parents helped out at basketball tournaments, baseball games, and anything else that we were involved in as kids,” Karaba said. “I’m just trying to do my part and give back to a great community.”
“Brandon has built a strong following of customers for Peoples through great service and a commitment to the Rhinelander area. His ‘can do’ attitude and engaging personality continue the strong foundation of local business leaders with a love for the Northwoods,” said President and CEO Scott Cattanach of Peoples State Bank.
