Wausau, Wis. (January 17, 2019) Peoples State Bank employees are connected to the communities they serve. In 2018, the more than 170 employees volunteered 8,010 hours to non-profits, churches, schools, and other community organizations. That’s 47 hours on average per employee. And once again in 2018, every Peoples State Bank employee participated in a volunteer activity.
“Volunteering is part of the Peoples culture,” said Scott Cattanach, president and CEO of Peoples State Bank. “As a community bank, our customers are also our friends and neighbors and we work together to make our communities better places to live and work.”
Employees spent more than 250 hours assisting with financial literacy programs such as Junior Achievement. But employees volunteered in a wide range of activities, far beyond financial literacy. The types of volunteer activities include civic, non-profit, church, school, sports, and professional affiliations.
“Our employees volunteer because they love the feeling of giving back to others,” said Donna Staples, senior vice president, human resources at Peoples State Bank. “It’s gratifying to see all of our employees step forward again this past year to help people in their communities.”
Nothing shows the volunteer spirit better than Peoples State Bank’s 12 Days of Christmas event. Bank employees were empowered to do random acts of kindness during the recent holiday season, such as purchasing snacks and games for abused children, bringing joy to families in the neo-natal intensive care unit, and helping adults with special needs. The annual event included donations to a variety of non-profits throughout northcentral Wisconsin.
