Sunset Bank & Savings is being acquired by PSB Holdings, Inc. (parent company of Peoples State Bank). Customers and employees of Sunset Bank & Savings will merge into and be operated as Peoples State Bank after a full brand conversion in June of 2021.

The Sunset Bank & Savings Board of Directors had a desire to provide liquidity for shareholders and more opportunities for employees by selling to another community bank. The board, as well as Bob Eastman as Chairman and CEO, believes Peoples is the best fit to carry on the tradition of local community banking in Waukesha.

Sunset Bank & Savings will continue to operate as a separate bank until the customer data conversion in June. The merger of Sunset into Peoples State Bank will be complete after June 13, 2021.

Our employees are encouraged to volunteer in their communities, and we routinely sponsor non-profit organizations, schools, and other community groups. We strongly believe that when our customers and communities succeed, Peoples succeeds.

Until the customer data conversion in June of 2021, Sunset will remain a separate bank owned by PSB Holdings, Inc. Tentatively, by June 13, 2021, the bank will become a branch of Peoples. 

Yes. Your full-service location at 521 W. Sunset Drive in Waukesha will remain open as you enjoy today.

Peoples was started in 1962 by local citizens in Wausau looking to provide small businesses and individuals with a community bank that would make local decisions based on their needs. Today we have 11 locations across central, northern and southeastern WI. PSB stock is traded under the stock symbol is PSBQ on the OTCQX market and the majority of our shareholders are local residents.

In the short term, you will see no impact. As we get closer to the merger to Peoples State Bank in June, you will receive more information on the transition of your accounts and expanded products and services available. You will continue to have access to move and transfer your money.

In addition to Sunset Bank & Savings locations, Peoples State Bank has a full-service location at 10725 West National Avenue, West Allis. A full list of WI locations is found here

Upon completing the data conversion on June 14, you will be able to conduct your banking business at any Peoples State Bank location, which can be found on our website, bankpeoples.com.

Account FAQs

We are committed to making your transition from Sunset to Peoples as smooth as possible with minimal disruption to your existing accounts. You’ll receive specific information about changes and your new account benefits in May. You’re welcome to open additional accounts to take full advantage of all the features and benefits Peoples offers.

The Sunset Bank & Savings routing number will continue to work at the current time. Peoples’ routing number is: 075911616. Please don’t use this routing number until after the conversion on June 14, as it could delay or cause a check to be returned.

Your final printed statement from Sunset Bank will be mailed after Friday, June 11.

Because of the conversion to Peoples State Bank on the weekend of June 11, your Sunset online banking will 3 p.m. Friday, June 11. Sunset customers with e-statements will get a final printed statement via US mail dated Friday, June 11. Customers will not be able to access e-statements after Friday at 3 p.m., June 11. Please save previous e-statements for your records. You’ll be able to re-enroll for Peoples e-statements and notices beginning Monday, June 14.

You'll receive your first Peoples statement beginning with a mail date of June 30. It will include transactions from June 14 to June 30. Moving forward, Peoples sends checking account statements at month-end and savings account statements at quarter-end. You can also sign up for Peoples e-statements beginning Monday, June 14.

Use your Sunset Bank cards through Sunday, June 13. They will be deactivated on Monday, June 14.

Peoples will send our debit and ATM cards to you on May 26. A PIN mailing will arrive separately on May 28. On Monday, June 14, you will be able to activate and begin using your Peoples card.

Yes, you can change the PIN by calling our automated telephone banking system and following the instructions: 888.929.9908.

If you have a Sunset credit card, watch your mail for more specifics. Your bill will change to Peoples State Bank, but you will not receive a new credit card until your current one expires.

We have begun the account number review, and the majority of Sunset customers will see no change to their account number. 

Please use your Sunset Bank & Savings checks through the end of the year. You can order new Peoples State Bank checks after June 14, but will need to switch to new Peoples State Bank checks by January 1, 2022. Your Sunset Bank checks will no longer be valid after January 1, 2022.

ACH deposits and payments will continue to work after the conversion. Peoples State Bank will send a notification of change to entities when we receive your automatic payments and deposits.

Interest bearing checking, savings, and money market rates are variable and will adjust normally due to market conditions.

Any loan account with a fixed rate and term will not change for the account’s remaining term.

Rates on existing Certificates of Deposit will remain the same until the end of their respective term.

There is no immediate effect to your accounts. Before the June conversion, we will provide you with specific communication regarding changes to your accounts including account features and benefits that best apply to your needs. Until that time, we encourage you to conduct business as usual with Sunset Bank & Savings.

Yes. When institutions merge, the FDIC provides a “grace period” that temporarily protects depositors who had funds at the acquired bank. In general, accounts at Sunset before the acquisition will continue to be separately insured for six months after the acquisition—and longer for some certificates of deposit (CDs). CDs continue to be separately insured until the earliest maturity date after the end of the six-month period.

The conversion to Peoples State Bank will result in enhancements, as well as new Peoples products to fit your needs.

Digital Banking FAQs

On Friday evening, June 11, Sunset Bank & Savings online and mobile banking app will no longer be available. Peoples will automatically enroll all Sunset online banking customer in our digital banking products. Your username and a temporary password will be sent to you in a separate letter the week of June 7.

Sunset online users will be able to access your accounts in the Peoples digital banking playforms beginning Monday, June 14. NOTE: When logging in for the first time, do not use the “Enroll” function, as you will already be enrolled in Peoples digital banking platforms. If you are a Sunset Bank & Savings customer who has never enrolled in their online services and you would like to use Peoples digital banking products after the June 14 conversion, you will need to use the “Enroll” function to get started.

Peoples will attempt to move bill payee lists from the Sunset online banking system to the Peoples digital banking system. We advise that you save your Sunset bill payee list details in case there is a problem with the data transfer.

Peoples will automatically enroll all Sunset online banking customers in our digital banking products. Click here to watch how to log in for the first time.

You can make deposits in the Sunset Mobility App until 12:30 p.m. CST on June 10.

Sunset online users will not be able to schedule new bill payments or add new payees after June 7 at 8:00 a.m. Payments previously scheduled to happen through June 11 will be paid. If you have an eBill established in the Sunset online banking system, you will need to re-establish it on or after June 14 in the Peoples digital banking system.

Yes, you can download the Bank Peoples app from either the App Store or Google Play. If you are a current Sunset Bank online user, you will be able to begin using the Bank Peoples app on Monday, June 14. Your username and a temporary password will be sent to you in a separate letter the week of June 7.
