May 14, 2019 (Wausau, WI) MC United (MCU) Soccer Club has partnered with Peoples State Bank via a uniform sponsorship that will significantly decrease the costs incurred by MCU families by subsidizing a portion of the uniform fee. “Years ago, we established a participation scholarship program for youth whose families receive free or reduced lunch through their school district in order to increase accessibility to our competitive soccer club,” notes MCU president Sharon Belton. “As our board has grown, we’ve been able to capitalize on the talents of our volunteers and seek additional grant and sponsorship opportunities in an effort to keep club costs at a minimum.” The club’s partnership with Peoples State Bank is the latest of those efforts. The new uniform, which will feature the Peoples logo, will be released for the Fall 2019 season.

“Peoples is vested in the quality of life in our community, and we enjoy helping to make it a great place to live and work,” said Scott Cattanach, Peoples State Bank president & CEO. “We’re pleased to partner with MC United as the largest youth soccer club in northcentral Wisconsin. It’s a great way to support youth sports and give back to families by reducing their uniform costs.”

In addition, Peoples recently signed on as a field sponsor at the Eastbay Sports Complex. MCU, which currently has 26 teams and nearly 400 players registered for the spring season, utilizes the Complex for practices, Central Wisconsin Soccer League games, State League games and its fall and spring tournaments. “I’ve had the opportunity to travel to many soccer complexes across Wisconsin and the Midwest,” notes Belton, “and the fields at the Eastbay Sports Complex are among the highest quality I’ve seen. The fields are one of the reasons our tournaments have grown significantly in the past several years because visiting teams are eager to return.” She concludes, “We’re fortunate to have such fields in our area and generous sponsors whose donations ensure players have a top-notch soccer experience.”

MC United celebrated the start of its spring season with the MCU Mountain Bay Cup tournament two weekends ago, which hosted approximately 5,000 players, coaches and fans. The club will host State Team tryouts for U14 boys, U16 boys, U18 boys, U15 girls and U16 girls teams in mid-June. State Teams compete throughout Wisconsin and represent the highest level of youth soccer competition in the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. Registration for the fall season opened May 14 and closes June 26. More information can be found at mcunitedsoccer.org.
